RIZZANI DE ECCHER IS AWARDED €1.65BN HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION TENDER IN ALGERIA
08/16/2013

A stone laying ceremony was held yesterday in front of the Algerian prime minister Abdel Malek Sellal.
Thanks to this new project, the backlog increases to €2,5bn.
Rizzani de Eccher, the Italian construction group headquartered in Udine and operating in the infrastructure sector (particularly in transport infrastructure) has won a landmark contract for the construction of a highway in Algeria. The construction contract, worth €1.65 billion, was awarded to Rizzani de Eccher as leader of a joint venture, which includes Algerian contractors ETRHB and Sapta. The project includes the construction of a highway with three lanes in each direction, stretching along a hilly region. The project includes substantial earthworks for a total of 43 million m3, 15km of viaducts and 4km of tunnels. The project is included in the urgent programme of development of the Algerian “North-South” Penetrating roads, that’s to say the three North South highways that shall facilitate access from the Mediterranean coasts to the interior. The other two roads have been awarded, also with private negotiations, to a Turkish-Algerian consortium and a Chinese construction group.
Yesterday, the Algerian Prime Minister Abdel Malek Sellal participated in the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Algerian “pènètrante auto-routière” RN77 between Jijel (on the coast) and El Eulma (in the interior).
Rizzani de Eccher is already operating in Algeria with the construction of the first lot of the Oued Tlelat-Tlemcen railway line, a project carried out in association with Italian contractor Condotte SpA.
With this new important project acquisition, Rizzani de Eccher confirms its strong penchant for overseas projects and its competitive edge in international markets, with an established presence in 18 countries, among which Russia, Lebanon, Kuwait, Qatar, USA, Canada, Australia and of course Algeria.
Thanks to this new project acquisition, Rizzani de Eccher’s backlog jumps to €2.5 billion.
“This Algerian project – says Marco de Eccher, Group Chairman – is particularly important to us because it seals our Group’s leading role internationally in the transportation infrastructure sector”.
